Microneedling

  • What Is Microneedling?
  • Microneedling — also called percutaneous collagen induction — is a minimally invasive skin procedure. A trained professional uses fine sterilized needles to create tiny micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-channels stimulate your body’s natural healing process, boosting collagen and elastin production. The result? Smoother, firmer, more youthful-looking skin.
  • Most treatments take about 30 minutes and use a topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable.
  • How Does Microneedling Work?
  • Microneedling works by creating controlled, superficial punctures in the skin. This triggers:
  • Collagen production
  • Elastin formation
  • Improved skin regeneration
  • As healing occurs, texture irregularities and signs of aging gradually soften, and the skin looks healthier and more refined.
  • What Can Microneedling Treat?
  • Microneedling is commonly used for:
  • ✔ Acne scars
    ✔ Surgical or traumatic scars
    ✔ Stretch marks (striae)
    ✔ Enlarged pores
    ✔ Fine lines and wrinkles
    ✔ Uneven texture and tone
  • It may also be used for medical purposes, such as improved delivery of medications through the skin.
  • Who Is a Good Candidate?
  • Microneedling may be right for you if you want to improve:
  • Mild scars
  • Skin texture
  • Signs of aging
  • Stretch marks
  • Uneven pigment
  • It’s suitable for most skin types and colors because it does not use heat or lasers.
  • Who Should Avoid Microneedling?
  • Before booking, tell your provider if you have:
  • Active acne or are using acne meds
Blood clotting disorders or are on blood thinners
    Cancer treatment (chemotherapy/radiation)
    Eczema, psoriasis, or frequent rashes
    History of keloid scars
Changing moles or other suspicious growths
  • Your provider will help decide whether microneedling is safe and effective for your specific needs.
  • What to Expect During Treatment
  • Consultation: Your skin and medical history are reviewed. Goals are discussed.
  • Preparation: Numbing cream is applied 30–45 minutes before treatment.
  • Microneedling: Tiny needles create controlled micro-channels in the skin. Needle depth varies (usually 0.5–2 mm) based on your skin concern.
  • Completion: The procedure can take 15 minutes to a few hours depending on the area treated.
  • Some warmth or mild scratching sensations may be felt during treatment. Deeper treatments can cause slight pinpoint bleeding.
  • After Your Treatment
  • Immediately after:
  • Skin may look red and feel warm — similar to a mild sunburn.
  • Swelling can last up to 5 days.
  • Makeup can usually be worn after 1 day.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed.
  • Most people need multiple sessions, typically spaced 3–8 weeks apart. Results continue to improve over 3–6 months as collagen builds.
  • Benefits of Microneedling
  • Improves texture and tone
  • Reduces scars and fine lines
  • Minimizes stretch marks
  • Safe for darker skin tones
  • Minimal downtime
  • Possible Risks
  • While generally safe, microneedling may cause:
  • Bruising
  • Temporary swelling
  • Mild irritation
  • Rare risk of infection or scarring (minimized when performed by trained providers)
  • Frequently Asked Questions
  • Does microneedling hurt?
Numbing cream makes most treatments comfortable. Some sensation may still be felt, especially near bone.
  • How soon will I see results?
Results develop gradually over weeks to months as collagen forms.
  • Can I do this at home?
Professional treatments are safer and more effective than at-home devices.
  • How often should I get treated?
Many people have 3–6 sessions, then maintenance treatments once or twice a year.
  • Ready to Improve Your Skin?
  • Talk with a licensed provider to see if microneedling is right for your goals and skin type.
